Dining Out

Places to Eat
Whether you are visiting on holiday, on business or for a special get-away, there is somewhere to suit your mood.

Pubs
Cosy, characterful, country pubs close by - take your choice! Every little village around here has its selection of pubs serving good food in relaxing surroundings.
For everyday evenings, try the Polecat at Prestwood, the Red Lion at Great Kingshill, the Crosskeys at Great Missenden, the Pink and Lily near Lily's Bottom, or the William IV in Speen.
Walkers might choose a pint and lunch at the Hampden Arms, Great Hampden or a quick downhill climb to the Gate at Bryant's Bottom.

The Polecat at Prestwood

Great Missenden has a great choice of restaurants (Indian, Chinese, Thai, tapas) in a pretty village, and Annie Bailey's nearby serves good fish and chips (take away as well).

Fine Dining Make an evening special with a meal at the Nags Head, Great Missenden or the Old Plow at Flower's Bottom for French cuisine. Further afield, the choice is endless and includes the Fat Duck at Bray.  The Five Arrows Hotel or the Manor itself at Waddesdon both serve Rothschild wines. .

Lunches Most pubs will serve a roast dinner on Sundays, 'with all the trimmings'. Or you could try some traditional recipes at a National Trust house such as nearby Hughenden Manor (Wed to Sun). Many restaurants and pubs now have specially priced lunch menus.

For any time (especially after a walk round the Chequers Estate, the Prime Minister's house) a visit to Rumsey's Chocolaterie in Wendover for lunch is essential.
